Let me introduce myself.  I’m Colleen Slater, I’m 42 years of age and I live in gorgeous Sydney, Australia. Why Is Blogging A Good Way To Make Money Online

If you’re wanting to make money online, becoming a blogger may be one of your best choices.  Bloggers take on many different forms and have many different avenues for making money.

When most people think about bloggers, their mind immediately goes to either political bloggers, social commenters, or even people using a blog to teach.  That is just a small percentage of the bloggers on the internet.  Bloggers who are using a blogging platform to make money, are many times writing about a very narrow market niche, or theme.  They write to a group of people who are interested in this area, and give them the latest and greatest news, and let them know about the hottest new products in their market.

It is much easier to create a following for your blog if you narrow your market, and find avid fans of your topic.  If you are wanting to pursue making money as a blogger in the radio control arena, you should not attempt to write to the entire audience of R/C Cars, R/C Boats, R/C Airplanes, and R/C Trains, all in one blog.  You’ll have much better success writing specifically to a very targeted audience, giving them the best information, and sharing excitement in their exact interest.  If you wanted to pursue the entire radio control hobby group, you would have much better success creating individual blogs for each market.

Blogs have very good success ranking on Google, because they are updated often, and because their topics are most commonly focused on a very narrow topic.   Using a blogging platform makes it much easier for you to launch your online business.  Instead of needing to know every back end detail of creating a web page, creating scripts, how to format your text, etc.  You use a blogging platform and can extend the function by simply adding plugins, and change the entire appearance quickly and easily by switching themes.  It is also much easier to add content to a blog.  If you know how to type, you can write on a blog.  A blog will give you great linking between the posts of your blog, instead of you spending your valuable time creating links between all your different web pages.

Creating A Network Of Niche Blogs

One of the best ways to start building up good income as an affiliate marketer is to create a network, or web of blogs within associated niches.  An example of this is the women’s fitness.  You could create a blog that focuses on women’s thighs, one that focuses on the waist, another that discusses issues with the buttocks.  By creating individual blogs for each area, you can keep your keywords highly focused to the market, and increase your ranking and relevance on Google, which will result in more people finding your site.

As you create your web of niche sites, you can interlink them to give yourself more back links and more authority within the entire upper level niche.  In our example, by having your blogs on thighs, waist, and buttocks, with links between the sites, you can create a higher overall effect on the term women’s fitness.  Many bloggers creating a web of blogs in this manner will have one blog at the top of the niche, to gather the most ranking gains from all the other sites.  In our example, all of the categories of women’s fitness, would point towards a site that covers the overall theme of women’s fitness.

To expand on your network of sites and blogs, you can also add in free blog services from WordPress.com, Blogger, Squidoo, and many others.  While you may not be able to advertise directly on these sites, you can create more back links, higher relevance, and more rankings for your web of sales blogs.  Most times, you can spend much less time updating these blogs, adding content once a week, or possibly as infrequently as once per month to keep the search engines returning to them.

You will want to invest the time to social bookmark every post on every blog, to get the search engines visiting your sites, and to keep increasing your total number of back links into your web of affiliate selling blogs.  

When you are creating your network of blogs, make sure you keep your best content for your primary money making sites.  This is where you want the highest quality, the highest relevance, and to gain the most favor from Google.  By passing the power of your various blogs down to your money making sites, you will get the highest possible rankings for your blogs, and increase your money making potential.

Even if you are considering creating blogs to resell, creating a web of blogs, and selling the entire traffic generating system, can give you a big payoff.  If your network of blogs is creating traffic and sales, it becomes a very valuable property for other people working within your niche.
